It snowed a little last night, and it's supposed to start up again this afternoon/tonight. The government has already announced a 2 hour early release. Fingers crossed we can leave early too!

snowtorious BIG

Snow weekend 2 was a success! Since everyone had time to prepare we had a potluck with lasagna, chili, meatballs, and fajitas. We played band hero, rummikub, and everyone got to pick their favorite drinking game. We got over 20 inches of snow which took forever to dig out. It was a great snow weekend and we are in the middle of another crazy snow week. Schools are closed for the entire week. The government has been closed since Monday, and today we got another 11 inches. Looks like we'll be snowed in for a couple more days! Hope everyone is safe and warm.

Well the DC area got 20-30 inches over the weekend, and another 10-20 is on the way for tonight/tomorrow. This is crazy! Hope everyone is having fun in the snow.

let it snow
This weekend was a little rough. Attempted to come into work at 10 on Saturday, chickened out after seeing a flipped car, stopped for coffee on the way home, my car got towed in the 5 minutes i was "off the property", waited for an hour for the boyf to pick me up, drove up to rockville, $140 later, got my car, drove a stressful hour home and witnessed 2 cars slamming into the guardrail right next to me.
But there were a lot of positives about this weekend as well. Didn't have to work due to the stressful events, got a campfire mocha (culprit of car towing, but decided it was worth it), went to b-dubs in rockville (since we were there!), bought band hero and jammed out with about 10 friends on Friday night. Discovered the best lasagna I've ever had! Recipe to come soon. Got really good at the drums in our band hero group. And then watched a Lost marathon all day Sunday. So altogether it was an adventure of a weekend.
What's up with all this snow? Don't get me wrong, I love it! But this is crazy for DC.

Snow weekend!!
So last week we had the 6th greatest snowfall in DC history! It was recorded that 16.3 inches fell at Reagan National Airport but in Virginia, we got more like 18-20 inches! I was super excited before-hand and invited over some friends for a snow weekend!! We got snowed in our house with 8 friends and had a blast!
The weekend consisted of movies, wii, playing in the snow, and a fair amount of beer pong/civil war. One source claims we sounded like "a bunch of teenagers practicing for a football scrimmage." haha it was an awesome weekend. We also had a beer scavenger hunt. Dave hid beers in the backyard while it was snowing, and we went looking for them on Saturday morning when they were fully covered. It was a lot harder than you would expect!
We had a makeshift beer cooler, and Mrs. Potato Head made another appearance!

We had stocked the fridge with frozen pizzas, pierogies, taquitos, a pound of turkey and made a huge bowl of macaroni and cheese. It's hard feeding 8 people! We ran out of food right when we could finally venture out of the house.
Good times were had by all!

Reasons why I love the holidays!
#2: SNOW!
So Saturday was the earliest snowfall in our area since 1997! Waking up to huge snowflakes made me super happy. I danced around all morning chanting "Snow on my birthday party!!" since we decided to celebrate our birthday that night. Every kid in the neighborhood made a snowman, and I can only imagine the amount of joy it brought them to have a snow day! (It would have been nice to have a weekday snow day, we'll hope for that next!)Which also brings up another thing I love about the holidays:
#3: Snowflake decorations
Everything is so festive and Christmasy. I love it!
