Thanksgiving treats

We had this Thanksgiving at our house, which was different than our usual at our grandparents,  but it was still nice. Good times with family + a boyfriend who everyone loved! My 6 year old cousin even asked "So is it love? Let me guess... Andrea." hahah he has a hard time telling us apart. Hilarious!

I was in charge of dessert, and Andrea made the appetizers. Here's what we whipped up:

And lastly this amazing recipe for Cheesy Bread. (We forgot to take a picture of the actual results. It was gobbled up too quickly anyway!)

  • 8 oz shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 lb shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 to 1 cup chopped green onion (to taste)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp sour cream (optional)
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup, 4 ounces), softened to the point of being slightly melted
  • 1 to 2 loaves of French or Italian bread (we used Ciabatta), depending on the size of the loaves

METHOD

1 In a large bowl, mix together the cheeses and the green onion. Stir in the mayonnaise and sour cream. In a separate small bowl blend the butter and garlic until smooth. Add the butter mixture to the cheese mixture.
2 Preheat broiler. Slice loaf of bread in half horizontally, lay crust side down. Spread cheese mixture over the bread. Place under the broiler until nicely browned, about 3 to 5 minutes.
3 Remove from broiler and let sit for 5 minutes until cool enough to handle. Slice the bread with a bread knife. Serve.

Craft time = amazing

So Madeleine and I (and Andrea joined in) decided to be super crafty. We made advent calendars with some inspiration help from here. We had SO much fun! It took about 5 hours, but it was well worth it! And we still have another project in store, stay tuned! Here are the results:

And because my birthday is in December (just ANOTHER reason why it's the best month!) I had to make it super cute:

New Moon

No, I am not jumping on the bandwagon. I have been OBSESSED with the Twilight series since I read all 4 books in a span of 5 days last year. I LOVE Edward and Bella. If I had more time, I would absolutely read them again (I'm currently at the beginning of Twilight).

Just like Harry Potter (AMAZING), I refuse to believe anyone can be a real fan if they see the movies without reading the books. And they are missing out. And yes, I will faithfully see New Moon this weekend (Yes, I do already have tickets). But I can't promise I'll like it. I didn't really like the first movie until seeing it for the third time, and still haven't watched the Harry Potter movies more than once in theaters.

But, any excuse to get back into the world of Twilight makes me happy! Hope everyone enjoys the movie and is inspired to actually read the books!

S Sissy. Having a twin is pretty fun.
T Tights. Perfect for wearing skirts to work every single day, not matter how cold it is.

Give Thanks

So Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away! Where has the year gone? Time seems to be flying. I guess because I'm having so much fun, haha. Madeleine and I bought each other Picnik premium subscriptions yesterday so collages will be a lot easier to make from work! Check out how cute her blog already is!

Here is my collage from last year, and currently working on a new one for this year. Enjoy!!

sicky

Sure did.. most of my friends immediately assumed I got the "swine", however I'm pretty sure I didn't. I'm almost better (after being lame in our hotel room in NYC this weekend and working for 4 hours yesterday and making it as far as my parking garage before throwing up). But here is my secret:

Like just about everyone, I don't even like Saltines. They are super dry and plain, but these mini ones are AMAZING!!! So salty, flavorful, perfect for a random snack. I have eaten them for pretty much every meal for the past 2 days, and they work wonders. I can't even tell you enough how good they are! Go out and buy yourself a box, whether you are sick or not.

witches brew

I promise, this will be the last Halloween post. As you can tell, I love holidays! Themed decorations and cupcakes really make my day! But here is the cauldron of dry ice we had at our pregame. Pretty proud of it.

Now on to Thanksgiving/Christmas stuff! SO EXCITED!!

She's just being Miley

So my sister is obsessed, and she brought me along to see Miley Cyrus perform the other day. My only complaints were the ear-splitting screams, but other than that, all the little girls looked super cute and fashionable. Decked out in glitter tops, leggings and Uggs, dragging their moms (and dads) with beers in hand. Pretty entertaining concert though, even the Obama girls showed up!

halloween recap

So I was a little hostess with the mostess and whipped up lots of yummy cupcakes for our pregame! [Funfetti with orange food coloring to be exact] Here are my mummies, big spiders and spiderwebs!

All together, we had a pretty good spread if I do say so myself!! And the pregame was super successful, everyone wishes we had stayed all night instead of heading to the bar!
